본 연구는 장애 대학생들의 전반적인 학교생활의 실태를 파악하고, 그들의 학교생활에 필요한 지원방안을 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 조사 연구를 위해 전국의 38개 대학에 재학중인 장애 대학생 253명에게 설문 지를 발송하였으며, 그 중 107개의 설문지가 회송되었다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 조사에 응답한 장애 대학생들 가운데 59.6%가 장애로 인해 대학생활에 어려움이 있다고 응답하였으며, 학업수행시 가장 어려운 점으로는 지체부자유학생들은 시험답안지 작성, 시각장애학생들은 과제물 제출, 청각장애학생들은 강의수강하기를 각 각 들었다. 자신의 전공이 직업선택에 도움이 될 것이라고 기대하는 학생들이 많았다. 대학에서 지원해 주고 있는 장애학생 지원서비스에 대해서 특히 시각장애와 청각장애학생들의 불만도가 높았으며, 대학당국이 장애 학생을 위해 개선할 점으로 편의시설 증진에 대한 요구가 가장 높게 나타났다.
This research focuses on current situation of handicapped students' university life, and has the purpose of offering plan for support to the students. Questionnaires have been sent to 253 handicapped students from 38 universities among the country and 107 sheets have returned. The results were as follows. 59.6% of students responded that they have difficulties of campus life. Moreover, crippled students had a hard time of make out an exam paper, the blinds had to overcome the problem of submitting assignments, and hearing impaired students could not register for the classes since they had restrictions. There were lots of students who expected that their major would help when they choose their careers. Even though the universities provide supporting services to them, visual and hearing impaired students showed dissatisfaction mostly. Plus, high demand of enhancing amenities for disabled students showed on the survey.
