The present study aims to analyze creativity-fostering English test items implemented in Korean elementary schools and develop sample test items. To obtain the two major goals, the suitability criteria for creativity-fostering test items were developed on the basis of the concept of creativity. Then, write-out test items constructed by 5th and 6th grade elementary school English teachers were collected and analyzed in view of the criteria. The findings of the research revealed that quite a few creativity-fostering test items in use did not reflect the concept of creativity in educational fields. In order to show the type of test items that are appropriate for creativity-fostering assessment, sample test items were developed for three categories, i.e., divergent thinking, convergent thinking and problem solving ability, and part of them were applied to elementary school students.
