Cold-mixed asphalt mixture(CMA) using recycled asphalt concrete(RAC) in addition with pozzolanic
industrial byproducts, such as blast furnace slag, coal ash, and steel-making dust, and incinerator ash as
alkaline stimulants was herein researched.
About the three materials, blast furnace slag, paper-sludge incineration ash and bottom ash, physical
and chemical properties such as chemical composition, particle size distribution, morphology, density, and
water absorption were investigated for the purpose of usage as inorganic binder of asphalt concrete
mixture. Marshall stability tests of recycled asphalt concrete mixture specimens were experimented and
the effects of rejuvenate agent and the emulsified asphalt contents of recycled asphalt concrete were
also investigated.
Furthermore, the surface modification of recycled aggregates by treatment with polyvinyl acetate
resin were tested for the improvement of strength characteristics and resistance to road deterioration of
cold-mixed asphalt concrete mixture.
