Gold(Au) was leached via electrochemical process in the presence of various kinds of proton
exchange membrane between electrodes. Leaching amount, electric current density, current efficiency
and impermeableness were measured at the condition of constant 3V, 60℃ for 5 h. Leaching amount
was 96.1% at Nafion 424, over 80% at the cases of Nafion 117 and 212. Electric current was
decreased rapidly after 3h and the condition was remained till reaction end, which means almost all
CN- ions were consumed before 3h. Electric current efficiencies were 90.1% at Nafion 424, 80.4%
at Nafion 211, 69.9% at Nafion 324. After reaction, amounts of gold in anode solution were 99.2% at
Nafion 324 and 83.2% at Nafion 424, which mean the impermeableness was lowest at Nafion 324 and
was high at Nafion 424. When leaching amount, current efficiency and impermeablenetss were
considered for evaluation about the characteristics of proton exchange membrane, Nafion 424 was
showed the best property for gold leaching with electrochemical process.
