The purpose of the study was to explore the effects of Social and Emotional
Competencies(SEC) of Elementary School Teachers on SEC, Community Consciousness(CC)
and Classroom Atmosphere(CA) of learners. For this, A total of 478 elementary school
students in the 4th and 6th grade and their 20 homeroom teachers in U providence
participated as subjects. Based on the level of teacher’s SEC as high, middle, and low,
students were divided into three groups. And their differences were verified by One-Way
ANOVA. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences among all
the variables of SEC, CC and CA. In detail, the group difference of Self-management and
Social-awareness of SEC, Fulfillment of needs, Influence, and Emotional connection of CC,
and attitude for classmates and class of CA appeared statistically significantly. The
discussion follows about the importance of SEC on elementary school teachers, based on
results.
