The purpose of this study was to study in the units on‘Life & Information’in
six Practical Arts Textbooks according to 2011 Revised National Curriculum. In this
study, a comparative analysis of six kinds of textbooks in 5th grade respectively was
conducted especially on the‘Life & Information’ unit in 2011 revised Practical Arts
textbooks. Romey analysis was implemented to analyze inquiry in six textbooks using
four different criteria – text, data, activity, evaluation. The results showed that almost
textbooks displayed a low level of inquiry tendency, lacking participation from
students and employing an authoritative tone. Almost four factors low level of inquiry
tendency. The Romey measures in some sections were zero, thereby indicating room
for improvement.
