The purpose of this research is to develop and verify scales for ecofriendly attitude for young children based
on sustainable development education. Preliminary draft proposal of the scales was drawn up through analysis
of preceding research. Final proposal was confirmed by verification of both content validity from expert group
and face validity from preliminary survey subjects. The participants of this research were 550 children and
their ecofriendly attitudes were measured by their teachers. As a result, test results of total 550 young children
were returned and the final analysis of results was suggested based on the test results of 484 young children
(96.8%), excluding test results of 28 young children that were unreliable. The collected data was analyzed by
SPSS & AMOS 21.0 program. When a factor analysis was carried out that regarding the item discrimination
power of the draft for the ecofriendly attitudes scales for young children, the factor loading of every item was
above 0.4, which showed that the factor score of the items was good. The correlation coefficients of the
sub-factors of the finalized ecofriendly attitudes scale was between .47 and .81, which implied that there was
a close correlation. Their reliability coefficient(α) was .84, which showed that the scales were reliable.
According to these results, scales for ecofriendly attitude for young children developed in this research are
stable tool of which its validity and reliability are verified and they consist of questions that can well
discriminate ecofriendly attitude of young children. Therefore, we conclude that this scale of which its validity
is verified in this research will be utilized as useful tool in terms of measuring ecofriendly attitude of young
children based on sustainable development education.
