현재 초등학교는 본연의 교육적인 과제에서부터 멀어지는 양상을 보여주고 있으며, 이에 교육적 과제 회복을 위한 노력이 요구된다. 초등학교에서 교육적 역할 수행을 위해서는 무엇보다 수업을 통하여 교육적 과제를 강화시키는 일, 즉 ‘교육적 수업’ 이 중요하다고 본다. 이러한 맥락에서 이 논문에서는 초등학교에서 ‘교육적 수업’의 수행 가능성을 ‘행위지향적 수업’을 중심으 로 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 우선 초등학교에 부과된 과제에 대한 고찰을 통하여 교육과 수업의 통합성을 확인함으로 써 '교육적 수업'의 중요성을 규명하였다. 다음으로 초등학교 단계에서 ‘교육적 수업’의 수행 가능성을, 헤르바르트의 주지주의 적 ‘교육적 수업’ 개념의 극복이라는 측면에서, ‘행위지향적 수업’을 통하여 파악하였다. 이어서 ‘행위지향적 수업’의 실제를 유 럽의 개혁적 학교인 프랑스의 프레네 학교와 독일의 예나플랜 학교의 수업 사례를 중심으로 제시함으로써 초등학교에서 ‘교육 적 수업’의 실천 가능성을 시사하였다. 마지막으로 초등학교 단계에서 ‘행위지향적 수업’으로서의 ‘교육적 수업’의 실현을 위해 전제되어야 할 과제들을 제시하였다.
Elementary schools today face problems of instrumentalization, functionalization and dehumanization in education. For solving these problems, restoring the educational tasks of elementary schools seems to be very important. In order to implement educational tasks of elementary schools, the integration of instruction and education is required. In this respect, this study aimed to investigate the possibility of implementing 'educational instruction' as 'action-oriented instruction' in elementary schools. The contents of this study are summarized as follows. First, the importance of the integration of instruction and education in elementary schools is examined. Secondly, the possibility of implementing 'educational instruction' as 'action-oriented instruction' in elementary schools was explored. And then, the practices of 'action-oriented instruction' in Freinet School and Jenaplan School were introduced. Finally, several ideas for realizing 'educational instruction' as 'action-oriented instruction' in elementary schools were suggested.
