The subject of this study is the emotion of the shame. The study deals with the Western thoughts on the shame. The shame is the human nature and the natural expression of human life. The person protects the life of the true self with the shame which is an expression of the antagonism and the tension between transcendence and limitation in his life. The person covers and protects his body with the bodily shame and the sexual shame. Especially the sexual shame is the cover which protects the sexual love for the qualitative sublimation of our lives. With the soul-shame or the psychic shame the person covers and protects his creative intimate life. The function of the anticipating shame[shyness, inhibition] is to cover carefully and to protect and cultivate the sacred origin in us, the powerful but vulnerabe life in us, the terrible but affectionate inner core in us.
