This study aims to investigate the relationship between character of participation in life
long education and social capital of the Aged. The survey was conducted of Elderly aged
65 years or more who participate in lifelong learning programs in Seoul and Kyeonggi
Province. Questionnaires were administered to a total of 300 elderly people, after
exclusion of improperly completed questionnaires, a total of 234 were included in the
analysis.
The study showed its major as below: First, the result of the analysis showed that
level of participation of Elderly is lower than other social capital factors. Second,
education institutes and Satisfaction on Lifelong Education have significant influences on
social capital of Elderly. Based on the results of this study, the following suggestions
could be put forward. The various programs to be developed that can enhance the
engagement of the elderly and it needs to increase the quality of the education program
for elderly.
