이 연구는 급속하게 진행되고 있는 세계화 추세가 초등교육, 그리고 초등교사 양성교육에 새로운 과제들을 던져주고 있다는 인식에 서 출발하였다. 연구는 교육 관련 세계화 추세를 고찰하고 이러한 추세가 차세대 초등교육에 어떠한 변화를 가져올 것인지, 어떠한 새 로운 요구가 도래할 것인지를 논의하였다. 이러한 논의에 기초하여 연구는 교육부문의 세계화 추세가 따른 초등 교사교육에 주는 시사점을 다음과 같이 추출하였다. 1. 교사들로 하여금 세계에 대한 기본적인 소양, 즉 세계사, 세계지리, 세계의 문화에 대한 소양을 갖추도록 해야 한다. 2. 세계와 소통할 수 있는 언어적 자질을 배양해야 한다. 적어도 어린이들에게 세계 언어의 다양성을 맛보게 할 정도의 간단한 외국어 실력을 갖추도록 해야 한다. 3. 차세대 어린이들은 세계인으로 키워져야 할 것이며, 이를 위하여 교사 양성과정 또는 현직 연수 과정에서 국제경험을 할 기회가 더 많아져야 한다. 4. 세계화 시대에는 국내교육과 세계교육의 교환기회가 늘 것이므로 세계에서 통용될 수 있는 교사교육이 필요하다. 5. 양성과정에서는 교사의 포괄적 수행능력을 강조하여 예측하기 어려운 사회변화에 능동적으로 적응할 수 있는 유연한 사고를 강조 해야 한다
The study has started fromthe recognition that the change of international environment becomes very important factor when we discuss on the education. It concentrated on the influence from rapid changing globalization trend to the elementary education and teacher education. The study reviewed the characteristics of the globalization trend in education such as political-economical transformation, cultural transformation, informative technological revolution and international cooperation. The study identified the emerging tasks of the elementary teacher education in the future as follows: 1. Elementary education for the next generationmust be concentrated to cultivate the globalmind. 2. Basic education is necessary for the overseas Korean on the Korean culture and Korean language 3. Global courses such as world history, world geography, various cultures of the world must be included in teacher education courses. 4. Foreign language courses including second foreign language should be emphasized in the pre-service, in-service teacher education. 5. Opportunities of the international experience such as exchange program, visiting other countries must be expanded in the process of teacher education. 6. Role of the teacher education programshould be specified: pre-service programfocuses on the flexible thinking competence to prepare for the social change, in-service programfocuses on the functional competence.
