The purpose of this study is to develop a focused group art therapy program designed to enhance the
ego-resilience of school maladjusted adolescents, whom have been ordered to register for special classes, and
to verify its effects. There were main research problems: were one, what should be the components of such
a program?, And, two, what would be the effects that the developed program have on the ego-resilience of
participating adolescents? The program was developed based on the theories of positive psychology,
ego-motivation reinforcement, and cognitive behavioral therapy. By the request of the local Office of
Education, 46 adolescents ordered to take special classes were selected to be split into experimental and
control groups. The developed program was then practiced on the experimental group for a total of 18
sessions over five days. The results of the study are as follows.: One, the development of the program was
divided into four steps: setting objectives, organization, confirmation of validity, and lastly implementation
and evaluation. The steps were again broken into 9 lower steps. Two, the program incurred a meaningful
effect on the ego-resilience of the participants. In conclusion, the developed program proved to be effective
in enhancing the ego-resilience for special class adolescents.
