This study aims to construct and execute the preparation program about permanency process
planning for the independence of adults with developmental disabilities, and measure the
increase of independent competency. Study was designed in a pretest-posttest control group
design.
As a result, the individual and social cognitive independent competency of experimental
group displayed a statistically significant increase based on the measurement period. Also,
the experimental group displayed statistically higher individual and social cognitive independent
competency than the control group. The individual and social behavioral independent
competency of experimental group displayed a statistically significant increase based on the
measurement period. Also, the experimental group displayed statistically higher individual and
social behavioral independent competency than the control group.
The practical implication of this study is in targeting adults with developmental disabilities,
who had been excluded in future planning process, to construct a specific plan for future
planning and the contents and structure of permanency process planning education program
that can be utilized in the practice field.
