This study was to examine an effect of group art therapy for the
mitigation of junior high school male student's internet addition. Study
participants were 6 students who turned out to belong to high-risk group in
the survey on internet addiction and usage among first-year male students
at a junior high school in A city. The program was carried out once a week
from 14 May 2015 to 25 June 2015. A total of 10 sessions were carried out
(2 sessions per day). The group art therapy program of this study was
organized after precedent studies were analyzed in order to be aware of
problem with internet, to predict the results of internet usage, and to help
students reflect themselves by actively searching for alternative activity.
Internet usage schedule and Korean internet addiction proneness scale for
youth (KS-Ⅱ) was used as measurement instrument. And Wilcoxon signed
rank test was carried out for data analysis. The results of study on group
art therapy for the mitigation of junior high school male student's internet
addiction are as follows. First, hours of internet usage were reduced in the
process of carrying out the group art therapy. Second, according to
comparing program pre-test and post-test scale, statistically significant
results were shown. Therefore, it was possible to find that group art therapy
was effective in the mitigating the junior high school male student's internet
addiction.
