The purpose of this study was to examine relations between leisure activities and elements of leisure constraints among persons who are blind and partially sighted. In an attempt to explore the determinants influencing participation in leisure activities among the visually impaired, the study analyzed connections between a set of factors including sociodemographic characteristics, individual, interpersonal, structural and physical, and time factors, psychological discomfort, and supporting environments for the disabled and participation in leisure activities. The findings were summarized as follows: First, the bottom classes of the recipients including women, the elderly of 60 or older, low income earners of one million won per month or lower, and low-educated individuals with a middle school diploma or lower turned out to have relatively many limitations with their leisure life. The low-income recipients were particularly exposed to the most diverse factors of leisure constraints, and those who were in sixties or older seemed to be considerably withdrawn psychologically. Secondly, the study analyzed the influences of leisure constraints on participation in leisure activities and found that structural and time constraints had positive and negative influences on the intensity of participation on average per day, respectively. Leisure constraints had no statistically significant influences on the duration of participation in leisure activities, and time constraints had negative influences on the average monthly frequency of participation in leisure activities.
