The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of group-art-therapy
program with handicraft activities on the ego-resilience of disabled children’s
mother. For this purpose, this study compared the results of the experimental and
control groups. The objects were 70 mothers of disabled children collected from
daycare centers. After the Korean Ego Resilience Scale Test, 16 participants were
chosen and they were divided into two groups, experimental and controlled groups.
8 participants were randomly assigned to each groups.
The Welcoxon test, non-parametric statistical test, was carried out to verify
the effectiveness on the ego-resilience. The test scores of before and after
experiments were investigated and compared.
Also, the qualitative analysis for the interpersonal relationship, self-regulation
skills control and self positivity was conducted and the change of participants
were studied during the each sessions.
As results, it was demonstrated that a group art therapy program using craft
activities is well effective to improve ego-resilience of mother with disabled
children.
Moreover, the change of ego-resilience of the mothers can be identified
through the increase of positive language and expression in works, restoring
positive emotion by expressing negative emotions in the process of activity.
