교사 의복에 대한 고정관념이 교사들에게 부정적인 영향을 줄 수 있고, 이런 고정관념은 대중매체의 영향을 받는다는 문제의식을 바탕으로 연구를 시작하였다. 본 연구에서는 특히 영화와 드라마에 등장하는 교사들의 의복에 어떤 고정관념이 존재하는지를 분석하고, 이를 바라보는 대중은 어떠한 영향을 받는지에 대해 탐색하였다. 분석 결과, 영화와 드라마에 등장하는 교사들의 의복은 품위성이 강조되고, 대중들도 교사 의 의복에 대해 비슷한 이미지의 고정관념을 갖고 있음을 확인하였다. 이것은 교사들이 이러 한 고정관념에 따라 의복행동을 하게 되는 경향이 있을 수 있음을 의미한다. 또한 교사가 의 복의 다양성에 따라 누릴 수 있는 자기표현 및 메시지 전달의 효과를 학교와 교실 상황에서 는 충분히 활용하지 못하고 있을 수 있음을 시사한다. 이는 교직 문화의 특징인 보수주의, 형 식주의, 외부의 영향에 취약함 등과 무관하지 않다. 후속연구를 다음과 같이 제안한다. 첫째, 영화와 드라마에 나오는 교사의복이 아니라 실제 교사들의 의복을 대상으로 분석한다. 둘째, 학교에서의 특정 상황 및 장소를 고려하여 교사 의복에 대한 고정관념을 밝힌다. 셋째, 연령대별 인식을 분석함으로써 시대에 따른 교사 의복 에 대한 고정관념 변화 여부를 탐색한다.
This study was started with the idea that the stereotype of teacher’s outfit might influence them, and this stereotype is affected by the mass media. Especially, the study analyzed how the characters in movies and soap operas dress up and how the public respond to the outfits. As the result, the outfits of the most of the teacher characters share the similar factors which is decency and gentility and the same stereotype exist in the public’s idea. This idea leads the teachers tend to choose their cloth to meet the stereotype in the classroom. It infers that teachers may not fully utilize the self-expression to deliver messages in their classroom. It also related to the conservatism, and formalism of the school culture. For the further studies, the followings are need to be considered. First, the similar study has to be conducted not only in the movies and soap operas but also in the real life situation. Second, determination of what kind of stereotypes are exist in the different situations and environments of the many schools is needed. Third, how the stereotypes are differ across the generations should be analyzed.
