Objectives: This study aims to understand better the importance of the experiences of a family confronted with the care of a cancer patient at the end stages of life. Design: Content Analysis was used. Participants: Seven female informal caregivers participated in this qualitative study. Methods: The data were collected by means of open-ended question interviews and fields observations. Results: In the current study the family members demonstrated their responsiveness through changes of relationship as well as physical and emotional changes. They regarded situational challenges as opportunities to improve their resources and competencies and to develop their own views concerning their lives and families. The research themes were analyzed, and a paradigm for the evolving processes of caregiving experiences emerged. Korean family caregivers went through 3 stages a) reconciliation with the perceived reality of the caregiving burden, b) balance between the caregiver’s responsibility and ability to cope and c) new attitudes toward life and family. Conclusion: This study explained women care giving experiences for cancer patient in Korea at the end of life based on the caregiver’s view of caregiving dynamics.
