This study is to consider about ‘competence’ of 2015 National Art
curriculum in Korea, especially as object of art appreciation education. The
National Art Curriculum and Art appreciation Education reflect the content and
objectives of the National curriculum. At the same time, it is also necessary to
consider about Reflectiveness-It means the critical thinking-, as key competence of
DeSeCo Project. The research results were as follows.
1. The essence of art education and art appreciation education should reflect
thinking ability, as like as education.
2. The competencies of communication, thinking, culture could be utilized
with the structure of education in aspects of cognitive & meta-cognitive, materials
utilized, the expression of learning, and learning content in art appreciation
education.
3. Art appreciation education is to support the whole concept of learning.
Through competencies of communication, critical thinking and culture in art
appreciation, every learners explore Art world individually, create a meaning and
recognition by the inner conversations, make reflective thinking and conversation in
social communication, constitute the meaning of the language collectively.
This enables the practice of key competence required by the DeSeCo Project.
The competency is important to the approach in the need for knowledge, technic
and methods in Education because we can provide a reflective questions about the
meaning of Art education and learning.
