The author asserts that citizens’ collective consciousness and personal spiritual
intelligence should be improved in order for the Korean society to develop toward a
more advanced integral society, particularly emphasizing the importance of professional
social workers’ consciousness level. It is stressed that social workers need to develop
spiritual intelligence skills at the integral level of consciousness to be able to address
complex social changes and rapid scientific innovations more effectively. It is because
the author believes that social workers’ integral vision and spiritually-effective leadership
at a mature level of consciousness is in great demand to tackle with fundamental
causes of social problems. From her perspective that spiritually intelligent approaches
including the introspection of personal consciousness are needed to solve social
problems in structural and systemic ways, the author discusses the necessity for
developing social workers’ spiritual intelligence.
