Objective : This study determined the effect of visual perceptual therapy on recovery of visual perception function, cognitive function and abilities of daily living activities for stroke. Method : 47 stroke patients received visual perceptual therapy at the Department of Occupational Therapy, PMC in Jeonju. The half-hour daily therapy was conducted for 6 weeks for the individual patient who in total had 36 sessions. Result : The cerebral infarction group had significant differences in MVPT raw score(p<0.001) and visual perceptual processing time(p<0.01). Both groups revealed highly significant scores at MMSE-K and MBI total score(p<0.001). Both right and left cerebral hemisphere impairment groups show marked difference at the scores of MVPT raw score and MBI total score(p<0.01), regardless of speech disorder MVPT raw score was highly significant(p<0.001) MMSE-K, MBI total score showed significant variances at the non-speech disorder group(p<0.001). Conclusion : Visual perceptual therapy is considered an important factor on recovery of visual perception function, cognitive function and the ability of activities of daily living for stroke patients.
