The purpose of this study is to present the necessity of an integrated view of leadership development by
examining how MBTI principles can be utilized in leadership development and to present the contributive
possibility of MBTI as a leadership development method based on self-awareness and feedback. The scope
of the study is to examine the merits of an integrated approach to leadership development, the possibility
of application of Jung's psychological type theory and leadership feedback, the implications for leadership
development, and the effective application of MBTI for leadership development from an integrated
perspective. This study focuses on literature review related to MBTI and leadership development. In parts,
it refers to MBTI field education and MBTI program of US leadership educational institutes. The results
of this study are as follows. First, as a method to achieve the effective feedback effect of MBTI, it was
necessary to change into the new perception of integrated leadership development, to utilize leadership
development as a diagnostic tool, to utilize leadership feedback based on dynamics and developmental
characteristics of psychological type, and to consider various leadership theme approaches in an accordance
with the paradigm. Second, in the application of MBTI and leadership principles, MBTI was related to
leadership development in an integrated perspective rather than one definition of leadership. Third, as a
leadership development methodology, it was necessary to look at MBTI as aspects of preference tendency
and environmental interaction in development process.
