The purpose of this study was to understand the current state of international students and attempt to provide the comprehensive understanding of counseling services for international students. For the research purpose, the statistic data of international students in South Korea and cross-cultural adjustment models were reviewed. A variety of areas in the difficulties international students struggle with were explored. Multicultural counseling competences for multicultural counselors were identified. Finally, counseling themes depending on the characteristics of international students were suggested.
