본 연구는 중도장애인 부모를 둔 자녀들이 경험하는 삶의 변화와 적응에 대해 서 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 4명의 중도장애인 자녀들을 대상으로 일대일 심층면접을 진행하였고, 연구 참여자들의 면접 내용에 대한 녹취록을 분석 자료 로 사용하여 ‘사례 내 분석’과 ‘사례 간 분석’을 실시하였다. 사례 내 분석에서는 부모의 갑작스러운 장애로 어려움을 경험하면서도 각자의 상황 안에서 이를 받 아들이고 변화에 적응해나가는 모습이 나타났으며, 사례 간 분석에서는 ‘충격 속 에서도 정신을 차릴 수밖에 없는 현실, 나를 포기하고 현실을 수용하는 삶, 아버 지를 향한 책임감과 연민, 변화된 삶에 적응하기 위한 가족들의 고군분투, 함께 짊어져야할 아버지 장애의 무게, 어려움을 견딜 수 있게 해준 사랑하는 사람들, 아버지와 함께하는 평범한 미래를 소망함’으로 7개의 범주가 도출되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 중도장애인 자녀를 비롯한 가족들의 적응과정 및 삶의 어 려움을 지원하기 위한 사회복지 실천적·제도적 방안을 모색하였다.
The purpose of this study is to understand the environmental changes and its adaptation process of children of parents with acquired disability. For this purpose, four participants who have parents with acquired disability were participated in-depth interviews. The records of the interviews were analysed by qualitative case study method. The result of a cross-case analysis shows participants tried to accept their parents’ disability and adapt to a new form of life as a family member. The main categories found through a within-case analysis are as follow: ‘A reality forced to get back to senses even in complete shock’, ‘Give up on me and accept reality’, ‘Responsibility and compassion for father’, ‘Struggles of family to adapt to a new form of life’, ‘Shouldering and sharing the difficulties of father’s disability’, ‘Loved ones who supported and helped to endure hard time.’ Based on the results of this study, practical and institutional improvements of social welfare were suggested to support difficulties and adaptation of children and family who have parents or family member with an acquired disability.
