The purpose of this study is to test a factors having an effect on well-being for the healthy
development of youth in rural area. In this regard, specific research problems are as follows. First, this
study checks individual, family, school and community factors having an effect on well-being of youth in
rural area. Second, it is intended to grasp relative influence between these factors. To this end, 298 youths
living in rural area of Jeollabuk-do were surveyed. SPSS 20.0 was used for analysis method. According to
the results of analysis, as self-esteem, individual factor, increased, and as depression decreased, it was
significant. And it was verified that, as economic status, family factor, improved, and as parental
attachment improved, an effect was produced on well-being. School, school record and teacher support as
school factors and neighborhood bond as community factor had a significant effect. Based on these results
of study, practical implications to improve the well-being of youth in rural area were provided in the
conclusion section.
