This study has objective to identify the roles and cooperation between after-school care services
after hearing stories from the sites focusing on community child centers. To this end, 13 heads of
community child centers with over 3-year experience on the sites were selected for the targets of
study. Data was collected through interviews with the focus groups. As a result of the study, first,
after extending Elementary Care Class, the number of children who participate to community child
centers get smaller. Or children who use the service move to Elementary Care Class, which is new
change. On the other hand, the right to decide after-school care lies definitely to their parents. We
could find that children are double harder. Second, if the roles of school and community child center
are integrated, the budget cost of the department can be reduced. With the saved cost, more
excellent instructors and programs will be able to be executed, which is revealed. Third, the workers
concerned in community child center showed negative thought about assigning roles depending on
grades, the features of facilities, and the roles of their parents’ socio-economic level. In addition, it is
not economic that the school executes after-school care service till late at night in terms of national
budget. It was suggested that the programs doubled in community child center and elementary care
class require of private guidance considering program integration and individual differences of
children.
