This study aimed to examine the relations between physical self-efficacy, ego-resilience, and satisfaction with school in accordance with participation in exercise, targeting elementary schoolers. Using SPSS 19.0 targeting 283 students in J, K, and H regions of Gyeongnam, the correlation analysis, regression analysis, and factor analysis were conducted. The detailed results of the analysis are like below.
First, regarding physical self-efficacy, all the sub-factors of the perceived physical ability and physical self-expressive confidence were increased as the number of exercise was increased. There were significant differences between groups participating in exercise, rather than groups not participating in exercise. Second, in the results of the multiple regression analysis based on the relations between ego-resilience, physical self-efficacy, and satisfaction with school, all the variables showed significant correlations besides physical self-expressive confidence, cognitive relation, and interpersonal relation. Third, in the relations between physical self-efficacy and satisfaction with school, the perceived physical ability of physical self-efficacy had positive influence on peer relation and teacher relation while showing no influence on school class relation. Also, the physical self-expression had positive influence on peer relation and teacher relation while showing no influence on school class relation. Thus, elementary schoolers' participation in exercise is an essential factor to raise physical self-efficacy and ego-resilience. As physical self-efficacy has influence on ego-resilience and satisfaction with school, and also ego-resilience has influence on satisfaction with school, it would be necessary to more actively encourage physical activities to elementary schoolers.
