The purpose of the study is to find out understanding of multiculturalism and multicultural efficacy
among special education teachers. The subjects of the study are 105 elementary special education teachers
from four special education school located in Gwangju and asurvey about understanding of multiculturalism
and multicultural efficacy wasconducted among the subjects. The study was analyzed with descriptive
statistics, t-test and f-test and the results are as in the following: First, there was difference in multicultural
efficacy depending on one’s teaching career. Second, the more work experience related to multiculturalism
elementary special education teachershave, the better understanding they have of multiculturalism. Therefore,
it is necessary to expand the training program regarding multicultural education for special education
teachers.
