대학 경쟁력 제고와 구조개혁을 위해 추진 중인 대학의 특성화 분야 중 융복합 분야에 대한 대학 특성별 현황을 분석한 결과, 대학의 유형, 설립, 소재지, 규모, 공과대학 유무, 의과대학 유무 등에 따 라 융복합 특성화 선정 분야, 융복합 특성화 참여 정도, 융복합 특성화와 기타 특성화의 추진 비율 등에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 우리나라 대학의 융복합 분야 특성화는 기계, 의료보건, 정보통신, 전기전자, 문화예술, 농림수산 분야를 중심으로 이루어지고 있으며, 학생수 1만명 이상 1만5천명 미만 의 공과대학이 설립된 대학에서 가장 활발하게 추진되고 있다. 공과대학이 설치되지 않은 재학생 5천 명 미만의 대학의 융복합 분야 특성화의 추진은 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 향후 정부, 대학 차원의 융 복합 분야 특성화를 촉진하기 위해서는 개별 대학의 특성을 고려하고, 대학별 교육과 연구의 특화된 인프라를 상호 공유할 수 있는 방향으로 관련 정책이 추진될 필요가 있다.
We analyzed current states of the interdisciplinary academic fields that universities specialized for their strengthening disciplines and competitiveness. In results, we found the interdisciplinary areas were different from each university by their college type, institution type, location, size, whether they have engineering school and medical school and etc. Especially, the interdisciplinary area were various across their discipline field, their participation rate, and ratio between general discipline areas and interdisciplinary areas. For example, universities of Korea have specialized their interdisciplinary areas by mechanics, medicine, IT, electronics, culture and arts, as well as agriculture. However, some universities such as small size and no engineering school have been little interested in specializing interdisciplinary areas.
