The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship of menstrual distress and coping method to
relieve the symptoms of women in early adulthood. A total of 142 participants were recruited from May 1,
2014 to June 10, 2014. The measurement included menstrual distress and coping method to relieve the
symptoms of women in early adulthood. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's
correlation coefficient with SPSS 20.0. There were significant differences in menstrual distress by
age(t=2.39, p=.020), drinking alcohol(t=1.75, p=.047), regularity of menstrual cycle(t=-2.78, p=.005). The
majority of coping method according to menstrual distress of women in early adulthood is 'Take rest or
sleep'(90%). There is a need for women in early adulthood to develop an effective nursing intervention to
relieve the menstrual distress and utilize active coping methods.
