슬로시티는 1999년 이탈리아에서 처음 시작된 국제적인 네트워크로, 2015년 현재 우리나라도 11개 의 슬로시티가 가입되어 있다. 슬로시티로 인증을 받게 되면 우선적으로 관내에서 생산되는 모든 농 축산물에 슬로시티 브랜드를 사용할 수 있으며 전세계 슬로시티네트워크에 자동적으로 가입함으로써 다양한 콘텐츠를 공동 개발하고 인적, 물적 자원을 교류할 수 있는 토대를 마련하게 된다. 국내 여러 도시에서 슬로시티에 가입하기 위한 경쟁이 치열하게 전개되고 있는 상황이지만 실질적으로 슬로시 티가 추구하는 ‘느린 삶’을 위한 가입요건을 충족할 수 있는 수도권도시는 많지 않다. 이러한 맥락에 서 아름다운 생태가 살아 있는 한탄강이 있으며, 전형적인 시골의 농촌풍광이 잘 보존되어 있는 포천 시 관인면은 슬로시티에 적합한 지역이다. 또한 현재 수도권의 슬로시티는 남양주 조안면이 유일한데, 수도권 한수 이북 지역의 균형발전이라는 측면에서도 슬로시티 후보지로서 관인면은 경쟁력이 있을 것으로 판단된다.
Slow City is an international network that started in Italy in 1999 for the first time. About 10 cities in Korea also joined this network. If approved, all the agricultural and livestock products produced in the city can be branded as Slow City. In addition, the city automatically joins the international slow city association to co-develop any necessary contents as well as exchange human resource and materials with one another. In this regard, many cities are pursuing Slow City. As a result, it is not overstated that the competition gets excessive. However, not many cities can be qualified for the criteria to be approved. In this context, this study chose Gwanin-myeon of Pocheon-si as an excellent candidate city for Slow City. It has beautiful scenery, traditional food, reserving typical rural landscape which is rare to be seen near the metropolitan Seoul. On the perspective of balanced development between South and North Gyeonggi provincial region, Gwanin-myeon is competitive. This study aims to support it, introducing many tangible and intangible local resources.
