The aim of this study is to examine the integrated education phenomenon of deaf students through the
literature review and interviews of teachers in the field, related to cochlear implant for hearing implant
children. In 1994, inclusive education was implemented by amending the special education law. However,
hearing impaired students were entered on separation education in the beginning of 2000 and then
increased inclusive education after the middle of 2000. This is related to the numbers of young children
with cochlear implantation in early 2000 when cochlear implants proliferate rapidly in Korea. The most of
these children entered normal schools and some of them was moved to special school as they became
senior students. Through this, we found the diverse problems of integrated education as like distorted
understanding of cochlear implants, a lack of specialized educational approaches, and FM hearing aid.
Therefore, ongoing studies on inclusive education systems, special educational assistance, and
multi-dimensional support should be undertaken before implementing integrated education.
