독일인으로서 한국문화를 독일에 이식하는 데 가장 적극적으로 활동했던 학자중에서 에카르트을 주목하게 되었다. 에카르트의 학문적 업적는 다양한 한국전설과 민담을 독일어로 번역하였을 뿐 아니 라, 동아시아권속에서 한국문화는 일본과 중국과 다른 독창적인 문화를 지니고 있음을 학문적으로 규 명하였다는 점에서 높이 평가될 수 있다. 특히 그는 한국민담속에 잠재되어 있는 한국인의 세계관이 표출된 유교적이며, 불교적 샤머니즘적 특성을 독일인들에게 각인시켜 주었다는 점이다. 처음에는 에 카르트가 한국에 신부자격으로 왔지만 한국의 문화에 매료되어 한국의 문화적 이미지를 일찍이 독일 문화권에 이식시켜 주었다는 점이 높이 평가받을 수 있는 요소이다. 다른 한편 한국인으로서 독일에 한국문화를 창작작품을 통하여 한국문화의 정체성을 이식시킨 한국인 작가 이미륵을 들 수 있다. 특 히 이미륵은 독일어로 한국의 전통 사고방식과 유교사상, 불교사상과 샤마니즘을 자신의 체험을 바탕 으로 독일의 자서전적인 성장소설의 형식을 도입하여 간결한 문체로 독일인에게 감동을 불러 일으꼈 다는 점에서 높이 평가 받아야 할 작가이다. 전후 절망에 빠진 독일들에게 한국적 조용하고 평화로운 풍경과 인간의 질서을 강조하는 유교적 덕목, 자연을 경와하는 도가적 지혜 생명을 중시하는 동양적 세계관을 담은 창작 작품을 통하여 독일인들에게 희망에 찬 새로운 유토피아를 제시하고 있다는 점 에서 세계적인 작가로 규정할 수 있다.
Among all German Korean Scholars Andreas Eckardt is a noticeable and special one, who has worked actively to tranfer Korean Culture into Germany. He proved scientifically that Korean Culture contains more different creative identities than Japan and China. He also translated various Korean legends and folk tales into German language. Particularly he impressed German people by confucian, buddistic and shamanistic views on the world, which are existing in Korean legends. In the first time he came to Korea as priest with the purpose to missionize Korean People, but he became fascinated by the Korean culture. He transplanted Korean cultural images into Germany. In this point he was highly estimated. Also the Korean author Li. Mirok transplanted the cultural identity of Korea in Germany by writing creative works. He expressed Korea's traditional thinking, Confucianism, Buddhism and Shamanism in German basing on his experience of autobiographical growth and adopting the German narrative form of Bildungsroman. His work gave fresh impression to German people in a concise style. He also offered a new utopia to German people, who were fallen in despair after World War II. His works were dealed with peaceful landscapes, the confucian view of world emphasizing human morality, buddhistic view of world accenting the life of all thing and taoistic view of world harmonizing the unity between nature and human being. In this context he can be appreciated highly as worldly writer.
