The purpose of this study is to explore improvement strategies of the saturday after school program
implementation which are focused on community educational capabilities. To fulfill the purpose, first,
through literature review, this study reviews present conditions, survey investigation results and the cases of
foreign countries which are related to the saturday after school program implementation. Second,
improvement strategies of the saturday after school program implementation which utilizes community
educational capabilities are presented. Third, the saturday after school program implementation needs to be
based on community educational capabilities utilizing community resources than school centered
implementation. In this perspective, first, three conclusions are suggested, in the consideration of essential
aspects of education. That is, contents about the diverse experiences of students, the learning interest causes
of students, the importance of school subjects learning of students are presented. And then, four conclusions
are suggested, in the consideration of four improvement strategies of the saturday after school program
implementation which are focused on community educational capabilities. That is, four conclusions are
complementation of school curriculum according to lifelong learning period, communication and cooperation
of Saturday after school program officials, quality management of instruction through conversations,
questioning․answering and discussion between teachers and teachers, teachers and students, students and
students, and enhancement of promotion for the right recognition of learners about the purposes of Saturday
after school program.
