The purpose of this study is to develop and analyze the effectiveness of the military personality
counseling/education program for army officers and noncommissioned officers. For this purpose,
the research was conducted from march 2015 to april 2017 according to intervention research
leading to analysis and information gathering, design, pilot testing, evaluation and revision.
For the development and evaluation of education program content, four research methods were
used, including literature reviews, expert meetings, questionnaires, and content analysis. First, the
education program was supplemented by designing the first education program through literature
review, expert roundtable meeting, and education needs investigation, and reflecting opinions
after the pilot implementation in 2015. The effectiveness of the modified education program was
evaluated from 109 students who participated in the three education programs from June to
August 2016. The results of the pre and post test showed that the education program was
effective in improving self efficacy as a counselor, and also significantly improved the
achievement of individual goals in the education program. In addition, overall understanding of
military personality counseling, improvement of counselor capacity, and achievement of goal
achievement in soldier management role (4.1 out of 5). Based on the results of the evaluation,
suggestions for development such as establishing the necessity of education program model, finding differentiation strategies according to competency level and position of participants,
preparing post - management system to utilize contents of education, and policy alternatives for
activating military personality education were suggested.
