The purpose of this thesis is to examine how disaster has been detected in school
education by reviewing the contents of the earthquake in Japan's elementary school
textbooks. Although the initiative has been implemented to prevent and reduce the
disaster , there has been no proven truth in how it has been affected by disasters in
educational process. The examination of inherent meaning on school textbooks that when
the disaster was appeared in the textbooks and how it was conveyed to the readers,
who had not experienced it, will in any sense be referred to as a guide to the disaster
education, especially to the Korean post industry society, it will raise the fundamental
and challenging questions about disaster education. This thesis will focus on the social
meaning of the each disaster and trace the changes of depiction, including the Kanto
Great Earthquake, Iseman typhoon, HansenAwaji Disaster.
