Since 2012, there have been many 'time-slip' dramas in Korean
television dramas. In 2016, however, two outstanding 'space-slip' dramas
were released. Those were Song jaejeong's and Kim eunsuk's
. In this article, I tried to understand the space and the
disappearance which appeared in the two dramas. To achieve this, I
compared Samgukyousa with the two works.
As a result, this study found that the characters of and
did not stay within the chain of life, such as the journey
from this world to the world of the dead. Like the characters in the
Samgukyousa, the characters in the dramas become aware of the
meaning of their existence, and they faded away or stay in the third
place. In , O seongmu became unclear about which is the real and
knew that he was controlled by the character, the real criminal.
Eventually, he realized that he can not stay in the Webtoons even in
reality.
In , Kim sin died, but he could not go to the world of the
dead. Of course, he did not return to the this world. There was no reason
to be born again because he understood all the meaning of his life. The
difference between and Samgukyousa is that embodied the disappearance in the match.
In conclusion, this study was able to understand the differences
between Kim sin and Wang ryeo in and the differences
between O seongmu and Kang cheol in , through comparing these
with the nature of space and the disappearance of characters. Through
this, we can see that Samgukyousa has the value as a source of new
cultural contents but it is a very effective text for understanding our
world.
