Data curation is discussed as one of the methods for efficiently processing the rapid increase of research data. This research encourages the further establishment of further data curation policy, and also analyzes and systemizes components to consider when the policy is established. The research was conducted by analyzing previous research and related outstanding cases. Specifically, in regard to operators, we analyzed the roles and relations of curators, producers, and users. And then we specifically examined the contents of executive tasks according to the data’s Life-cycle. Also, we classified the cases of data curation policy inside and outside of Korea, then summarized essential components to check when establishing the process. Based on the essential factors extracted as above, I examined the role of the operator as charted on life cycle. As a result, the roles commonly found with the three operators include evaluating and screening objects of collection, data documentation, creating collection checklist, allowing reuse of metadata, data backup, data evaluation and screening, setting data retention period, method of sharing, and creating sharing checklist.
