Practical experience in care wor k refers to the seven days of experience (consisting
of the five day of experience at social welfare facilities and two days of experience at
special educational school )that was made compulsory under the “ Law for Special
Provisions, etc. for Educational Personnel License Low Concerning Granting of
Teacher' Ordinary License for Elementary School and Junior High School(1997)" The
aim of this paper is to primarily show the content of preliminary lectures on practical
experience in nursing car given by our University and the content of reports after
practical experience, as well as to point out the tasks relating to the curriculum for
practical experience in care work that should be addressed in the near future.
The reports made after practical experience are comprised of three items, namely,
“ ①What was moving or impressive in association with users of nursing care service" ,
“ ②What problems were experience in nursing care" and “③What information should
be conveyed from such practical experience to future learners. " These reports illustrate
and review starting work as a teacher.①, helped in recognizing the relationship of
equality and the diversification of values.②, it was beneficial in recognizing the
importance communication and the diversification of methods, whereas item
③,resulted in attempts to convey practical experience in our own words, to future
students
However, the fact remains that no sufficient system has been structured for giving
participants feedback on problems noticed during the follow-up reports. An issue
hereafter will be to restructure the care work learning experience curriculum,
including systematization of the connection between the university and the location of
the learning experience, and follow-up training.
