The purpose of this study is to develop a program to improve self-efficacy and countertransference
management ability for play therapist and to examine the program's effectiveness. The program consists of 10 sessions and focus on child client-play therapist interaction on play therapy. The subjects of this study
were 10 play therapist, who were divided into control and experimental groups. The Self-Efficacy Scale and
Countertransference Management Ability Scale were used as a pre-test and post-test respectively. The data
were analyzed by the SPSS 21 program, which applied the Mann-Whiteney U test and Wilcoxon rank sum
test. The result of analyzing the effect of the program between two groups showed significant difference.
The treatment group statistically showed significant enhancement in self-efficacy and countertransference
management ability in comparison to the control group. The results of this study presented play therapist's
self-efficacy and countertransference management ability were improved by application of the program.
