The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a cardiovascular prevention program on the
knowledge, prevention, and self-esteem of cerebrovascular disease in 65-year-old elderly group. This is a
quasi experimental study by nonequivalent control pretest-posttest design. The data collection period was
from October 7, 2015 to November 25, 2015. The data collection method was developed for the elderly
using the Y-city Welfare Center program in Gyeongsangnam-do, once a week, 8 times in total 16 hours.
The collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 21.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, in
the experimental group and control group, the knowledge of cerebrovascular symptom was statistically
significant at t = -5.375 (p <.001). But the cardiovascular symptom knowledge was t = -1.579 (p = .121),
there was no significant difference. Second, there was statistically significant difference between the two
groups in the prevention of cardiovascular disease at t = -6.097 (p <.001). Third, self - esteem showed a
statistically significant difference between the two groups at t = -6.904 (p <.001). As a result of this study,
