The purpose of this study is to re-define a multicultural mentoring through exploring how multicultural
mentoring programs have defined and implemented since 2000. In addition, we aim to provide directivity of
programs of domestic multicultural mentoring based on this analysis. For this, we reviewed literatures on
multicutural mentoring which has operated for students from multicultural background in Korea and
compared these with analysis of concept of foreign cross cultural mentoring. Consequently we provided definitions and directivity of multicultural mentoring as following three ways. First, mentor and mentee
have an awareness on their cultural values and stereotypes on other’s culture. Second, they obtain cultural
knowledges each other. Third, mentor applies culturally sensitive method on mentoring. Within these
consideration, multicultural mentoring can be understood as the broader and more comprehensive concept
including sensitivity on diversity and cultural competency.
