This study explores adult women's characteristic responses to DWMC, and examines the applicability of
DWMC as a diagnostic tool to estimate emotional abuse experience in childhood. The stratified sampling
includes 108 all of whom are child-rearing adult females. The present study employed the DWMC, and the
Child Abuse Experience Scale(CAES) relied on, in analysis, Cronbach’s ⍺ for checking the reliability of the
assessment criteria. In addition, for interrater and intrarater agreements, this study assessed Kappa quotients.
And factorial analysis, Pearson’s relational analysis, cross-sectional analysis, and discriminant analysis were
conducted to confirm the validity of assessment criteria. The results are as follows. First, the Cohen’s Kappa
index shows A-B .802~1.0, B-C .789~1.0, and C-A .841~1.0 for interrater reliability and .841~1.0 for intrarater
reliability in reassessment of 4-week intervals. Cronbach’s ⍺ for DWMC assessment criteria shows .70 for
weather factor, .79 for coloring factor, and .69 for mother-and-child factor. This is a reliable level. Second,
according to emotional abuse experience, most of the weather factors of DWMC, color factors, and
mother-child factors showed significant difference in all variables. The results show that the developed
DWMC evaluation criteria have reliability and validity, and can be used as a tool for determining the
emotional childhood abuse experience.
