Due to the adverse effect of climate change and depletion of fossil fuel, using
renewable energy is considered inevitable. Several studies related to renewable energy
are executing all over the world. For study purpose, we conducted gasification
experiment in a pilot scale plant (8 ton/day) using solid refuse fuel (SRF) as
feedstock. The SRF was produced from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) by mechanical
biological treatment (MBT) process, which includes processes like crushing, sorting and
drying. This process had various cleaning system for gaseous pollutants and tar.
Cleaning system was composed with cyclone, scrubber, wet electric precipitator and
moisture removal system. And, for assessment of stable operation of gasification
process, we conducted gasification experiment of several kinds including changing of
equivalent ratio (ER), charging rate (CR) and oxidant separation. Through these
experiment, we could calculate efficiency index of gasification which were cold gas
efficiency (CGE), gas yield (Gy), lower heating value (LHV) of syngas and carbon
conversion ratio (CCR). Lastly, we analyzed various pollutants which were tar in
syngas, dust and gaseous pollutants for environmental assessment.
