국내 대학 특히 비수도권 소재 대학들은 현재 대학입학 학령인구 감소로 인해 대학 정원 축소와 이로 인한 재정적인 어려움을 겪고 있다. 때문에 대학 당국은 당면한 어려움을 타계할 수 있는 방편 중에 하나가 외국인 유학생 유치증대에 있다고 보고 이에 많은 노력을 기울여왔다. 그 결과 최근에 외국인 유학생 유치에 있어 괄목할만한 양적 성장을 이루어 내었다. 그러나 외국인 유학생들에 대한 체계적인 사후 관리 활동의 부재로, 상당수의 외국인 유학생들이 학부과정에서 학업을 포기하거나 중 도 이탈하여 불법체류 하게 되는 등 유학생 관리에 있어 많은 문제를 노출하고 있다. 이러한 현실 속 에서 외국인 유학생들의 학업 중도 포기, 이탈 등을 야기하는 핵심 원인은 학교생활 적응 특히 학업 만족도와 깊은 상관관계를 가지고 있음을 알게 되었다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이를 보다 명확하게 규명 하기 위해 외국인 유학생들을 대상으로 학습 요구 분석을 위한 설문조사를 진행하였고 이에 대한 분 석을 통해 유학생의 눈높이에 맞는 교육 프로그램을 도출함으로써 외국인 유학생 관리가 보다 실질 적이고 체계적으로 이루어질 수 있는 기반을 제공해 보고자했다.
Domestic universities, especially those in non - metropolitan areas, are currently suffering financial difficulties due to the reduction in university quota caused by the decline in the school – age population. Therefore, the university authorities have made a lot of efforts to increase the attractiveness of foreign students. As a result, universities have recently achieved remarkable quantitative growth in attracting foreign students. However, due to the lack of systematic follow-up activities for foreign students, many foreign students are abandoning their studies or leaving the school to stay illegally. We found that the main reason for the abandonment and departure of foreign students was related to the school adjustment, especially the academic satisfaction. In this paper, in order to clarify the correlation, we conducted a questionnaire survey for analyzing the learning needs of international students. From this analysis, we derived an education program suitable for the level of foreign students. Through this, we wanted to provide a foundation for more practical and systematic management of foreign students.
