Purpose: The purpose of this study was to grasp of the impacts among the satisfaction of the body shape, the social
competence, and life stress of, female college students. Methods: Research design was a descriptive study, as pilot
study. The sample for this study was 50 female college students from the university located in Seoul. They agreed in
writing. The data were collected using questionnaires from 7-12, September, 2016. Data were analyzed by SPSS 21.0
program. Results: This study showed significant results among the variables. There was a positive correlation between
body shape satisfaction and social competence(r=.321, p=.022), and social competence and life stress showed a negative
correlation(r=-.369, p=.010). Body shape satisfaction had a significant effect on social competence(t=-.2087, p<.05).
Social competence had an effect on life stress(t=-2.450, p<.05), and life stress had an effect on social competence(
t=-2.404, p<.05). Conclusion: Therefore, there is a need to prepare countermeasures to improve social competence
and to manage life stress by increasing body shape satisfaction through right perception of female college
students. In addition, it is necessary to develop a program to help the social competence and to reduce life stress.
