The purpose of this study is to analyze the conflict between elementary school teachers and university
of eduction students and sports instructors about the transition of elementary school sports instructors to
full - And to present a new role for sports instructors. The data were collected from postings and
comments on the government - run website, Gwanghwamun 1st Street, the Jobs Commission, and Indie
School, an elementary school teacher community, and personal blogs. Qualitative content analysis
procedures(White and Marsh, 2006) were utilized for data analysis. In this study, the two groups were
confronted face to face with economic difficulties and procedural legitimacy. However, in the depths of
such a phenomenon, there was a conflict to secure hegemony of teaching rights. The sports instructors
wanted to increase their status in the school by securing their own teaching rights and to have the same
position with the teachers. On the other hand, elementary teachers and university of eduction students
were concerned that they had a trauma to the middle school teacher system and that it would have a
negative impact on the drop in public education quality and recruitment of new teachers. However, in
order to comply with the educational trend of convergence education, it is appropriate for elementary
school teachers to do physical education classes in order to integrate the curriculum. In other words, it is
effective for elementary school teachers to do physical education classes directly and sports instructors to
support physical education classes indirectly. This study suggests the main tasks of sports instructor as
follows. 1) operation and guidance of school sports clubs, 2) support for physical education classes, 3)
elimination of gaps in physical activity experiences, and 4) customized training for school teachers. These
transition of tasks will promote cooperation between elementary school teachers and sports instructors
and contribute to school physical education.
