Lifelong education started from schooling and unequal opportunities to education. And in order for growth of lifelong
education, government’s supports and evaluation were inevitable. In Korea, the central government planned and practiced
lifelong education policies for many years. Nevertheless, researches about lifelong education policies was insufficient and
it was not discussed. This study was to investigate the research trends about lifelong education policies in Korea. For the
purpose, we collected 153 articles from 50 journals published in Korea. And we analysed the frequency and percentage
of articles according to the criteria such as categories of polices, research methods, publication year, type of journals, etc.
As the results, first, the articles increased from 2000(the first wave) and from 2012 and 2013(the second wave). Second,
in first wave, law, ordinance, propulsion system, local government and lifelong education, regional human resource
development, higher education and lifelong education and so on were research topics. And in second wave, various
research methods, local community, law and propulsion system were the topics. Third, in the aspect of research methods,
literature review was used repeatedly. But recently the number of articles using positive approaches were increased. Forth,
only 10% of the articles were about the neglected such as the disabled, the illiterate, lower-income group, and
multi-cultural family. Based on the findings, conditions and implications were discussed.
