The purpose of this study is to investigate (1) the perception of experience of English drama classes
using English literature and (2) to recognize the awareness of preliminary English teachers about applying
this method to general English class or free semester in middle school. The subjects were 4th grade
students who took classes in 'English Drama Theory'. They first learned the theories related to drama, and
they made plays based on Shakespeare's Macbeth as a text. As a result of the survey, the preliminary
English teachers said that the English drama class using literary works generally helped to improve their
creativity, thinking ability, and interest, but it was difficult to memorize pieces of dialogue because it was
not a modern version of the English language. In the case of the perception of the application to middle school English class, the score of 'English drama class will be easy to follow by middle school students'
was the lowest and the 'will to apply' had a relatively low score of around 3. In addition, based on the
narrative answers, it was found that in order to effectively apply to English courses, it was recommended
that more modern versions of the English language were to be used to enable easy understanding of the
literature during class.
