The purpose of this study is to present a theoretical model, via a grounded theory approach,
to explain habitus in the poor disabilities through their journey experiences. Seven participants
were selected for in-depth interviews. The open coding results showed 107 concepts, 14
sub-categories, and 9 categories. The habitus in the poor disabilities through their journey
experiences was classified as ‘in the sea’, ‘ returning to the border’and ‘back to the
island’. The core category of the process was ‘bondage of difference’, By exploring of
the constrained social, economic, and cultural environment revealed through the lives and
habitus of the poor disabilities, we suggested some practical implications for cultural leisure
support and socio-cultural environment for them to cherish and enjoy their lives as members
of the society.
